About

I am passionate about my work and committed to helping people achieve their goals and live happier, more fulfilled lives. I have over a decade of clinical experience working with individuals and couples.

Credentials and education:
• Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Maryland
• Owner of IHS Psychotherapy and Counseling, LLC
• Master’s degree in pastoral counseling from Loyola University, Baltimore, MD.
• Nationally Certified Counselor
• Imago Relationship Therapist
• Certified Internal Family Systems Therapist

Before establishing my practice, I was a psychotherapist for the Pastoral Counseling and Consultation Center of Greater Washington and the Imago Center for Washington, DC. Earlier in my life, I had a career in public policy after graduating from The George Washington University with a Masters in Public Administration. I worked for the executive and legislative branches of the federal government and a non profit. After experiencing profound healing in my own journey through therapy, I decided to become a psychotherapist committed to helping others heal.

My work addresses issues of the whole person—mind, body and spirit. I draw from several models of psychotherapy and tailor interventions to meet the needs of my clients. My preferred model is Internal Family Systems, an evidenced base treatment which involves getting to know the various parts of ourselves, accessing our core Self of compassion and connectedness and healing emotional pain.

In couples therapy, I have trained in Imago Relationship Therapy by Harville Hendrix, the Developmental Model by Ellyn Bader and Peter Pearson, Internal Family Systems by Richard Schwartz and Relational Life Therapy by Terry Real.

My husband, Eric, and I teach a premarital/marriage seminar entitled, A New Way to Love, based on the best-selling book, Getting the Love You Want by Harville Hendrix, Ph.D, and Helen Hunt, Ph,D. We have been married 25 years and have three daughters.

Member of the American Counseling Association and The National Board for Certified Counselors.
